About the Event
MAHA SHIVARATRI, the Great Night of Shiva, celebrates the power of transformation that comes time and again, allowing us to evolve — Shiva is also known as Ultimate Consciousness, the inner Self which resides within all of us.
Saraswati will recount a legend of Shiva, the Auspicious One, forever in deep meditation in his abode, Mount Kailāsa in the Himalayas.
We shall then chant and meditate together, accompanied by Saraswati and Sri Hanuman on the harmonium and tablas respectively, invoking divine blessings, power and strength for all who face difficulty in their lives.
Kirtan chanting is a fundamental practice of Bhakti Yoga: it dissolves the notion of separation by connecting us to the moment through sound, guiding us deep into our heart. It creates a sense of connection and unity: at first you are aware of yourself, but as time passes your sense of “me” evaporates.
Some experience this as joy and ecstasy, others describe it as boundlessness or timelessness…
In a world filled with messages about how we’re separate from each other and separate from the divine, chanting mantras together unites us in a way that no other form of Yoga does.
